Keyboard player Mickey Virtue leaves Ali Campbell’s UB40 after 40 years.
Mickey spent much of the past decade with the original UB40 band’s former lead singer Ali Campbell after he became the first member to leave the band in 2008 to pursue a solo career and since 2014, the pair have been joined by Astro and had been touring as ‘UB40 featuring Ali, Astro and Mickey’.
This month is the 40th anniversary of the original UB40 line-up playing their first gig at the Hare & Hounds in Kings Heath on February 9, 1979.
Now the rebranded ‘UB40 featuring Ali and Astro’ are due to play Arena Birmingham on March 29, 2019.
